Re: [RC] shavings vs rice hulls - RDCARRIE

We tried the rice hulls.  They were nice for sifting out the poop without getting a lot of the bedding (hulls).  However, they were practically non-absorbant.  So the "pee spots" remained as little lakes of pee under the layer of rice hulls, rather than the pee being soaked up by shavings.  We've gone back to shavings for that reason.  We only stall 2 horses at night, our 31 yr old so that he has all night to munch on his dinner, and a buddy horse for him.
