Okay guys here it goes:
I haven't been able to ride for two years because of an owie. I got the owie fixed and now I need to start getting in shape to ride.  How does one come back from a fat body, surgery and sitting around feeling sorry for yourself?  All advice will be taken seriously :) Seriously I need training advice for me and not my horse.  And my next question how long has it taken some of you to get back in shape for a 50 miler?
Micki Turney

Hi Micki,
I had to take some time off for a health issue. Nearly 8 years...
The hardest thing for me to do was to get the 'ride time' back into my daily schedule.

I bought a new young horse, so both of us needed to go slow for a while.  From there, I just increased the time and speed as we both got our wings to function together.

It really helps to have a good friend to encourage you along the way too...
