RE: [RC] [RC] Donkey with unusal endema.....??? - Nancy MittsYou mention oaks---where there a lot of Acorns?Did they disappear over the course of a couple days? Has the swelling started to go down now? Curious because a couple weeks ago one of our horses had swollen legs. Out on sparse pasture 24/7. Fed Burmuda & oats. No changes of any kind. Not "sick" or even lame despite the swelling. Second day more swollen, that's when I noticed he had begun eating acorns. There was a bumper crop this year. About 3-4 days, acorns gone, swelling went down. It started with the 2 front legs, one hind leg got the worst, the other hind leg hardly swelled at all. No heat or tenderness. Researched acorn poisoning. It all talked about diarrhea, maybe bloody, etc. But no symptoms like that here, all normal. The swelling went down almost over night once the acorns were gone. We've occasionally had other horses go on acorn binges with no effect, once a mild colic. I just couldn't find any other cause for this swelling. Nancy Mitts From: "L gin" <ladurgin@xxxxxxx> Weather is in a warm spell, spring like. No wounds I can feel. This is a new place. There are oak trees and leaves around, A few pines, but trees are fenced so they can't eat bark... _________________________________________________________________ MSN Shopping has everything on your holiday list.
