Re: [RC] [RC] Dodge Truck Question... - Julie Gelderman

Hi all...

One last P.S. on the Dodge Truck issue. I am driving an 06 standard transmission one ton dually. I had the factory install a jake brake and I am never driving without one again. The control and absence of having to use my brakes is AWESOME.

Thanks for all the info. I just have a 2 horse bp trailer at the moment, but I'm looking to upgrade to a 2 or 3 horse gooseneck in a year or so. That's why I want the diesel, so I don't have to upgrade to a different truck at the same time, and also to have more truck than I need for pulling the passes and things of that nature that are found out west. Thanks again!!!

Get a '99 or newer for more power (24 valve) and a better set of gear ranges in the auto transmission. My '95 had tons left in 3rd gear but the transmission wouldn't let it take advantage of it.

The '96 was the one with the transmission problem.

I'm looking at a 97 3/4 ton Dodge Cummins diesel w/ an automatic transmission. I would like to get an automatic (simply because I'm tired of shifting and would like to be lazy and drink my coffee w/o having to put it down), but have heard some bad things about the transmission for that year. Anyone here know anything about that? Thanks!!!
