It seems to me that I heard a story that a few years ago, during the Tevis
ride, some riders reported hearing a woman screaming down in one of the canyons.
They thought a rider was in trouble. I don't know if they sent a search party
out or not, but later they found that all riders were accounted for. So I would
suspect it was a big cat.
In our local paper a year or two ago there was a report that some
people heard a woman screaming in the forest behind their home. The police went
out to investigate and didn't find anything. Again, I think it was probably a
mountain lion.
