[RC] Who has time to ride? Not me ... - TypeF \(Jackie Floyd\)

And even if I had the time, I still don't have my main squeeze, Tank, back in action. I'm down to being able to ride four miles before I get stalled. I used to be able to go at least 5-6 miles in the foothills. Now, we're at 4 miles flat ground. Symptoms continually are the same ... Fairly good energy (this last ride was a rodeo, bucking, cantering in place, trotting sideways) until I stopped to let him munch on grass at the back of the corral when arriving back home. Then I had to get off and pull him back to the trailer, as he kept stopping and looking back at his rear, which is the constant MO for each ride, no matter if it's at home or away. At the moment, I'm leaning towards tye-up, but have no evidence to back that up. I tried miserably to take a sample of blood, but even though it LOOKS easy, I couldn't do it. We were unable to reproduce the symptoms at Davis with exercise. We took a blood sample before and then after and nothing showed. And of course, like the car that has an engine noise you take to the shop, there was no "noise" at Davis to show. He gets rye hay and beet pulp with a little wheat bran mixed in. Occasionally he gets some senior complete feed, no molasses. No signs of lamness. Davis found nothing wrong with ANYTHING. Although they seemed to feel he was a little "off" on the left front, which neither I, nor my endurance rider buddy who was with me could see. I even treated him with Marquis for EPM just because I was out of other ideas. Even have a new saddle. Have tried three different ones. The only other thing that I think it could be would be his back, I guess. They say they can't get a good enough picture to tell me whether he has spurs in his spine or not. Oh, the other thing is that he's gotten continually more paranoid about things. He used to love his stall and now I can't hardly coax him in there anymore. If anyone else wants to comment, I'm still chasing the problem.

And in case, I didn't mention it (can't remember if I did it publicly or not) the oleanders have been pulled out as far as the edge of the corral. That leaves bushes still within 75 ft. of the nearest horse.

On another note ... Wow! Honestly, I had no idea what I'd gotten myself into with this Lighter Side stuff. Earlier this morning, my office looked like a bomb had gone off, now that the travel mugs and notecards are here. Ghost poop everywhere (that's what one of my printer friends calls those styrofoam shipping peanuts). The back of my truck is now completely full of packages going to the post office.

If anyone else wants any of this stuff for Christmas, please have mercy on me and get your orders in as soon as possible. I do have a real job that I have to keep up with! :) And I haven't even started to think about my own Christmas shopping or what's that you say? There are six horses in my back yard? Get out!

According to the cute little brochure the post office sent me, I have until 12/20 to ship out priority mail to the U.S. to arrive in time for Christmas. Global mail to Canada or any other country only has until the 13th.

I am happy to note that those of you who took the t-shirt poll pretty much picked the same colors we did, so that makes the job a little easier. WAIT until you see the new cartoons Angie drew for them!!! Now if I could just figure out how many of each size to order ...... They won't be ready in time for Christmas delivery but we'll have them for convention for sure.

Back to my regularly sheduled program ... Sports Market Report to-printer deadline by Friday ... (that's my day job).
