RE: [RC] opening gates? - Kearby, Kate G Civ 748 CBSG/OM

One horse I have that I can also move trees with if a 'funk and wagnall' gate is strung loose I can work them on him.  But I don't have many of those around to contend with.  Of course if I need to go thru them 90% of the time I would dismount.  I wouldn't expect people to open one of those gates, and I've ridden Louisiana, texas, Kansas, iowa, Arkansas, and Oklahoma and haven't had to , they must be a lot more of them in other states.  If people automatically assume that it's the kind of gate to talk about?

That's great that your horses do that, however, how would you do that with a 3-strand barbwire stretch gate? Not just trying to be a smatr a$$ here, though I do ride a few. Not all gates are doible from horse/muleback.

If I had a horse that wouldn't open a gate and stand there nice and hold it for a dozen horses if need be  WHILE I'M MOUNTED, I'd be doing some serious training before I left home or finding another horse!
