Re: [RC] [RC] Rowing machines (for rider exercise) - Juli Jakub

We have a rowing program at the school I work for so our gym has three state of the art rowing machines....holymoly...the best workout I ever get. I have nicknamed those things the brutalizers! But it helps keep me in shape and I tend to go to the school gym every other day so I mix one day doing the rowing machine then the next time I go the treadmill and the next time I go the elliptical. On my off days at home I do crunches, leg lifts, push ups, yoga stretches and postures, and sometimes if the weather is right and I can find time when it is not pitch black I will run up the death hill otherwise known as Old Whitney Road...a nice long mile + all uphill dirt road. But the rowing machine makes me sore ALL over. I usually can barely move hte next day!!

Concept Ergometer.......you have a sliding seat like a rowing boat, and pull a handle on a chain, spinning a wheel. A very good workout....you can track meters rowed; or my favorite, calories burned.

I'm thinking about getting a rowing machine. It seems it would provide a more well-rounded workout than what's accomplished using our treadmill.

Is anyone currently using a rowing machine? If so, what brand/model are you using?

Or, do you have a better idea/suggestion for indoor winter workouts when the snow is deep outside.
