If she had volunteered at rides and knew the drill - she might think about a 50. If she had experienced riders to ride with - she might think about a 50. Being this is her first AERC ride, her horse's first AERC ride and she has not prior experience with AERC rides or no experienced friends to ride with, I agree with Dave.

This is a learning experience - more like a "shake down cruise." I'd suggest the LD and treat the entire weekend - including even helping at the vet check after she finishes. There are plenty of time for a 50 after this ride.
