[RC] FL Endurance/Osceola Forest/Feb. 3 2007 - Jean Wonser

Cheer up, those of you who love The Osceola National Forest! There will be a competition 50/25 on Feb. 3, 2007.,   Cow Pen Trail.    This is a 'no frills, benefit ride for a medical need' managed by long-time distance rider Cindy Treece of Macclenny.

The Osceola is convenient being on the NE quad of I-75 and I-10, near Lake City Florida.   When dry it can be a very easy woods trail, with grassy trails, almost no deep sand, very little rock;  During the winter rains or after hurricanes it can be wet, as basically a swamp with Pine flatwoods on edges.  Then it is a challenge to riders learning to ride through water holes and  creeks.  Some horses take a while to adjust to drinking the tanin taste water (black water)  but they get over it by 25 miles usually.

The flier is in work at present but want to let everyone mark the calendar.  She has a message on cell  904 497 8135;  home 904 259 21522  eve. best.   Pass the word   for volunteers too.
