[RC] Stonewall Saddle for Slab-Sided Horse? - Lisa Douglass

I used a Stonewall saddle for my angular high-withered Thoroughbred for a
few years before I started to rep the Free 'n' Easy Saddles. I loved that
Stonewall, and used both a breast collar and crupper to make sure it stayed
in its proper place. Your pony most likely has a 'rear girth groove,' where
the belly rises steadily from the front legs to the back legs . . . With
the trunk narrowing this way, the saddle has nowhere to go but back,
especially if he's a big front mover.

Anyway, the Stonewall worked well for us. I would just make sure you have a
really good saddle pad (I had one custom made with Astroturf inside!) for
weight distribution, since the Stonewall doesn't have a lot of weight
distribution area.
