Re: [RC] Alfalfa hay and ulcers? - Dyane Smith

Another interesting use for alfalfa, at least according to U.C.Davis, is to feed a horse that has been starved and is still severely underweight.  I thought that was so counterintuitive, but that's what they recommend.

Subject: [RC] Alfalfa hay and ulcers?

I ran across the following statement from a vet on myhorsematters.com in the veterinary rounds My horse does not have issues, I was just reading and found this statement and was curious:  **About the only non-pharmaceutical treatment that has been considered useful for ulcers is alfalfa hay, and that's mostly for stomach ulcers (helps keep the acid down).**
