Re: [RC] Rain gear websites - Lori Bertolucci

I have had an original Outback oilskin slicker for over 20 years, and love it. It has never leaked, and I use it every winter. I have also used it during some really cold, foggy mornings gathering cattle and stayed warm. the only thing about it is the bulk. It is heavy and cumbersome, and once the weather warms during the day, hopefully, on a ride, the need to find a good place for it becomes difficult. My horse doesn't really like the feel of it flapping on his sides.
Keep in mind, the best way to clean an oilskin is not at all!  lol
Just rinse off with clear water from the garden hose. Or a heavy downpour will do it, too.

This is the brand I prefer. I have had cheapos in the past and they were
much leakier. I can tell you from my experience, an oilskin hat will keep
your head dry all day long in a heavy rain. I've never sprung for the coat
yet but I will if I ever have the money. They are not terribly expensive as
far as outdoor gear goes and I love the feel of it.
