There was some private chatter a few months ago about this question. I 
thought I'd take a crack at it to see if there were any trends that were 
hiding in the database over the last 10 years. However, this time 
instead of focusing on the starts (we have probably learned most of what 
we are going to learn from the "starts") - the focus was on the riders.

While I am not sure the above question has been answered - or if it even 
makes sense to address, some trends surfaced that were very interesting 
and illuminating in their own right and yes somewhat surprising. What it 
seems to say - is we have become more multifaceted and more homogeneous 
- all at the same time.
