Re: [RC] brake controller - Julie Gelderman

It has been my experience that ANY trailer set properly will drag on gravel.  I just use my jake brake and gear down if I am driving a lot on gravel.  Otherwise, you will have to fiddle with the controller.  Just one of those things...

Subject: [RC] brake controller

Okay, I sold my Brenderup and got a less expensive trailer (2000 Morgan Built) to pay my bills.  :)  Back to electric brakes after many years of the Brenderup's "inertia braking system" that was independent of my truck.  I have a brake controller on my truck from trailers prior to my Brenderup (1993).  But I seem to always be fussing with it.  If it's set on pavement, they seem to lock up on my gravel road.  If I set it on my gravel road, my truck is having to hold some of the weight of the trailer if I don't get it just right...   I was at Trucksmart and saw for $159 a Draw Tight brake controller that is "inertia controlled".  Is this worth investing in replacing my regular one?  I'm not sure how it works.  Input?

Thank you!
Dawn
