Re: [RC] scratches - SHEILA A WALSH

I prefer the Trail Magic ointment.  It worked wonders on my old gelding and am now using it on a tiny spot of scratches I just found on my mare.  I am thinking she developed them from pee splash.....

Subject: [RC] scratches

Sonny, my prospective endurance horse that I wanted to take to the Lake Oroville ride in November for his first 50, has developed a case of scratches from the little rub marks caused by  the easyboot gaiters (I did have a very generous covering of vetrap under the gaiters). I found this website regarding treatment of scratches and thought I?d share it. I?m hoping the remedy is as effective as the author, Heather Smith Thomas, claims it to be so I can continue preparing Sonny for the ride. If not, we?ll be holding off ?til springtime for his first 50.

Has anyone else used this remedy?  http://www.anvilmag.com/farrier/101f5.htm
