Ah, so horses are only the end result of the chain? It works like avian flu - that is, a disease of birds that can be communicated to humans? I know that's what they say, but....
I'm not sure I'd be willing to bet I couldn't be infected with WNV if I hung out in a room with a WNV infected horse, a flock of pigeons and a whole mess of mosquitos, if the pigeons and mosquitos were not carriers at the time they were put in the room.
