Thanks for the link, this is starting to make sense.  I just measured both my western and english saddles.  The western is a Big Horn full QH bars and it measures about 5.5 inches at the narrowest part of the leather on the seat.  My english only measures about 1.5 inches--does that make sense or am I measuring wrong.  I surely find the english much more comfortable to ride in.  What are the measurements on some of your saddles?

Robert. Here is a site that tells a bit about what the twist is. My husband is more comfortable in a saddle with a narrow twist, as it does not spread his pelvis as much, and then in turn, he does not have knee pain. We would have never thought knee pain could be associated with how wide the saddle is to the rider, but once he got a narrow twist, the pain was greatly reduced.
