[RC] club foot vs hi/lo syndrome - Valerie Jaques

The tendency to clubbiness in Arabs can be traced back to a single mare with a significant club foot.  She passed it on to all six of her daughters, who in turn passed it on to all of their offspring.  It is a highly inheritable trait.  One of the reasons some breeds have managed to breed the feet off their horses is due to a tendency to breed for other traits and ignore poor feet.  Problem is, often the poor feet are more inheritable than the other traits they're breeding for!
