Re: [RC] Saddles that move forward/backward - Marirose Six

I always use a breastcollar & crupper, but then I ride mules, so I don't
count. However, a friend of mine doesn't use either because her saddle
seldom ever moves, it fits so well. That said, I bug the heck out fo her to
use a breast collar simply for safety reasons. I doubt she has put it on her
saddle yet, though she does own one. (She's a little hard-headed) But if she
had, I cane think of 2 times she wouldn't have been dumped off her horse:
both times when her saddle slid back either going up hill or galloping flat
out. Both times the saddle ultimately ended up under the horse, 1st time
with one stirrup up over his hock on a back leg. (Saw that one other time
too, different horse.) So keep in mind people, less is not always better.
And, even if you don't mind falling off, your horse may not appreciate
wearing the saddle under his belly or attached to his leg.
