Interesting post.  I have an Arabian Saddle Co. Sylvan GP (general purpose) 
and I LOVE this saddle.  I had tried a Solstice and found the same 
thing...the stirrup leathers were positioned in more of a dressage position 
and I had painful kinks in my hip joints.  The Sylvan is just perfect.  I 
have the wide model and I've had three horses that have been very happy with 
it.  One horse was actually too narrow for it, but adding an Equipedic pad 
solved that problem.
