[RC] Horse bill - Donna Coss

The graphic example of horse slaughter was before the
regulations by the USDA were tightened down and government inspectors
were given
complete control of the slaughter plants. They can shut the plant down
for ANY violations!

The scene you describe will be repeated if your horse is sent to
Mexico. The regulations are very lax and they do not in general care much
about the animal's suffering. I'm certain Canada has humane
regulations, but the horses still have to be transported there hundreds
of miles. They will be transported there under the guise of "private
ownership"! So even if a law is passed against transportation, they
will still be transported across borders.

IF in a Utopian world breeders would limit their breeding and everyone
would be responsible for their own horses, then all of this would not
have to be the problem it is! Do you really believe that all the PETA
types and the other groups screaming for this bill to pass,
will form groups to care for all the unwanted horses.
What do you think?

It was well documented that PETA groups were picking up dogs and cats,
euthanizing them and putting them in dumpsters behind commercial
establishments. This was well researched and carried in local S.E.
coast newspapers after some people followed the vans that were taking
the animals "to find homes for them"!

IF every unwanted horse were able to find a home and be cared for by
someone that loves and treats them with respect, I would vote for the
bill to be passed. But this will NEVER happen and I really do not want
the hoofed animal humane societies to have to rescue them and then have
to bring
litigation against the owners. They already have more work then they
can keep up with.
