[RC] easy oleander kill - Steve Shaw

I have been involved with noxious weed irradication for years.
Waxy leaves makes it very hard to apply herbicides, even with a good surfactant. Madrone is the same....
A simple way to kill oleander is to simply drill a hole in the base with a cordless, or any drill and to put undiluted Roundup into the hole. Just a quarter ounce will do. This will kill the plant. But, then you have to deal with all of the dead leaves that will fall off when cleaning up....
It is much more productive to cut the bases off and remove the plants with the leaves still attached. Then paint the stumps with undiluted Roundup within at least 20 minutes.

I grew up with a whole side of our yard in oleander. We would cut it back every three years or so when they got over six feet tall. It all became an huge hedge. We had dogs, kids crashing through the hedges and many other pets with their cages right up against the hedge. Never had any problems (the rabbits never even found the leaves).
