Re: [RC] '06 TWH Celebration - SHUT DOWN - yup - Chris Paus

Oh, it's for more than a ribbon and bragging rights. It's a HUGE business. Those show horses sell for Arab Sheik kinda dollars.

My ex husband worked at a stable in Waukesha, Wi where they had palomino saddlebreds and QHs. The saddlebreds sold for ungodly amounts of money.

It is sad, sad sad. And the Arab world does the same with their so called "English " horse. It's not English like you and I know it!

I know abuse happens in our sport. We'd be ostriches if we think it didn't happen. But by and large, I think the sport is done by regular people who have one or two horses and want to have their favorite horse for a very long time. thus we have to take good care of them.

I recently sold an Anglo Arab gelding to a farm couple from S. Dak. A show type person also was looking at him, but I was glad the young couple wanted him first. Moon won't get out as much and won't amass records, but he's going to live a happy life, the kind that horses like to live.

Knowing the horse, I know he'd rather brave a S. Dakota winter than be locked up in a show barn day after day.
