Re: [RC] [RC] call it Endurance? Long, probably TOO long - Lonnie Ruesch

I have ridden several LD's, some endurance, even tried a 100 once. As far as awards for LD, I couldn't give a flip. I don't go to any ride for the award. However, I am a completer, not a competer. But i would hate to see a rule that prevented LD riders from doing more than five rides at that distance. Yes the LD was established to give riders a stepping stone to longer distances. But there are some people out there who will never be able to step up, for many different reasons. And most couldn't go out and get another horse just so they could keep riding.
Such a rule would cause AERC to lose a lot of membership.

Since I have ridden endurance distances before, but haven't ridden in two years because of various reasons, am I no longer an endurance rider? When talking to people involved in rodeo, etc., I usually say, "I rode endurance." If I said, "I rode LD (or whatever)" they would just say "HUH?"
We need to not get our panties in a bunch over something that is supposed to be fun. I mean really, do any of us HAVE to do this type of riding, or are we out there to enjoy ourselves?

Lonnie
