Re: [RC] 2006 Big Horn 100 - Barbara McCraryWe've never had that kind of problem. By the time the "lost" person comes back to the correct trail, there will be many hoofprints from horses going the correct direction. We HAVE had riders get off trail because of vandalism, or in the case one year, where there was a runners' event whose trail crossed ours. By sheer coincidence, their ribbons were so near the same color as ours that a couple of front-runners ended up following their trail and found themselves at the park HQs. Our flagging was pink and white, the other was pink and lime green, indistinguishable in the early hours of the morning in a deep forest. I've heard that same story numerous times, but on our ride, having drag riders pull flagging works just fine. And besides, unless our flagging has been altered, riders almost never get off trail. We mark turns extremely well.Barbara
ride.On our ride, drag riders perform at least two necessary functions. They are > safety riders, and they remove our ribbons and signs as they =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
