There were two equine fatalities that I know of, not three.  I know one was said to have been a twisted gut, I have not yet heard the cause of the second.

Drag riders would have helped my rider for sure.  Fortunately, her horse came around on his own and survived.  Bless you for being a drag rider.  Being a guardian angel must be rewarding.  Maybe not very often (hopefully) but in a big way when it is.  One life saved is definitely worth the effort as far as I'm concerned.
