[RC] Newbie to List and Endurance - Equus Wolf

Hi everyone!
I've been on the list for a little while (I like to
watch and learn before I jump in) and have learned
quite a bit already! I haven't ridden endurance
before but I have a great friend that is mentoring me.
I am in SC.
Let me tell you - at the barn, I am always the one
that is considered to always have "everything" -
Well, I have learned that is so untrue! I can't
believe how much stuff I've had to get to start
endurance(not to mention adding a second horse)! But
I've had fun with it - always need an excuse to buy
new horse stuff!
Another thing I've realized is just how differently I
ride to train for endurance than I ride to train for
hunter/dressage. With the horse I plan to ride
endurance, on arena days, we work on dressage, body
carriage, and jumping (though only at crossrails at a
trot right now) to prevent ring sourness.
It has been a lot of fun getting my motivation back.
I hope I still enjoy it as much as I think I will
after our first ride (LD in SC in March of this year)
I'm sure I'll just be much more addicted afterwards!
It is definitely a new challenge for me as I've picked
up some riding fears over the years and I'm slowly
working past those and loving the field and trail work
again. (it was taking my thoroughbred mare to two
hunter paces that got me started into training for
endurance with my apha mare, who much prefers the
field and trail work to the arena anyway!)
Anyway, sorry to be so long winded. You guys seem
like an awesome bunch (of course you are, you're horse
people!!) Please forgive me ahead of time if I ever
ask the "never a stupid question but this one sure is"
question!

Jennifer
