Sand Clear (product name) is psyllium.  That's what I bought - the directions say feed 1 scoop (5 ounces) per day for a 1,000 lb adult horse, for 7 days in a row, once a month. 
 
But, if you have several horses that can sure get expensive.  From other posts, it seems that it may not be necessary.

Hi, have been reading some of the posts on sand colic. How much psyllium do you need to give them a day?  Also was wondering if Susan G and Heidi agree with giving psyllium instead of sand clear?  thanks,
