RE: [RC] Horses in Slant Loads - Pat and Janett Van Nuland

When I adopted my Mustang  they put the halter/ lead rope on her, and in the trailer she went. At the gas station and  human food stops she was always facing backwards. Now 6 years later in our slant load, (with the dividers out) on short distances I don't tie her and she stays forward slanted. I don't know if it's because she  has gotten use to being tied that way or doesn't mind the forward slant.

Subject: [RC] Horses in Slant Loads

I've read many articles how horses like riding in trailers backwards vs facing forwards. Just wondering if anyone who has a slant load ever loads their horses backwards or not or even if it's not rocommended somehow due to safety issues.

I'd like to try it with at least one of my guys who seems to be more and more nervous in my 3 HS load that he's ridden in for the past 9 years.

Appreciate any ideas/experiences about this.
