EPA mileage figures are based a defined set of driving conditions and are performed in a lab, sort of like a treadmill. The highway mileage is based on 55 mph. If you drive faster you won't get the advertised mileage.

The EPA mileage figures are at best for comparison only. They are an upper bound of what you can expect.
