RE: [RC] historical question - Bob Morris

Cindy:

I know that the first time we used glow sticks was in 1981
at our Night Riders Ride, a fifty mile ride in the hills on
trails. I rode ahead of the riders on a trail bike and set
them out.

Subject: [RC] historical question

This is for us old timers: When did 100 mile rides start
using glow sticks? I know that the first few years I rode
endurance, we did not use any lighting on the night
sections...only ribbon/flags. Someone asked me for the
history of when lighting the trail started and I don't
remember.
Also, any stories about riding without lighting might be
interesting to the "youngsters" who have never experienced
this. Cindy
