Cindy has already answered Lucinda, but just as a matter of interest, a set 
of 4 Old Mac boots for example would set you back the same as a good 
dressage or endurance saddle. I currently ride in a saddle I have been using 
for 10 years already because I cannot aford a new one so what do you think 
my chances would be of buying a set of boots for endurance? I currently have 
all my pasture potatoes and my show horse barefoot but once again just 
cannot afford barefoot on my endurance mare.

Cindy and I would gladly accept a donation of boots ;-) then we COULD afford 
it :-)

forgive me for missing most of this discussion...
 How is it that one could NOT afford to go barefoot.
 I use a barefoot farrier...paying a tidge more for the trim is still
cheaper then shoes.
