[RC] Vet check feed (was Calories for your $$$) - M Paul latiolais

Karla,

You bring up an interesting point about feeding "Other" stuff at the vet check.

You may have heard that my vet box dissappeared on my second loop of the 80 at Klickitat. The volunteers scavenged around to find something for Pete to eat. He really liked the molasses soaked grain that they found.

I don't like to feed my horses sugar, or other stuff that they don't normally eat,...BUT, toward the end of a long ride it seems that a little sugar (or complete advantage or oats) would probably be a good thing, as long as they have tried it before.

If you have a Purina dealer in your area, get some Purina Complete Advantage. Its beet pulp based and there is just something about whats in it that fattens my horses up better than anything else I've tried. I don't have to feed very much of it to keep weight on. ?Its also a great feed to offer at vet checks as every horse seems to just love it.
