Re: [RC] [AERCMembersForum] As we wait for USEF Announcements - Barbara McCrary

Well, if this is the way we want to head with endurance riding.........
I guess if a few riders want to do it this way, more power to them, but leave me and most of us out of this. I think the really competitive world is a different world than most of us know and understand. To me, who is utterly non-competitive, it is so artificial and contrived. It smacks too much of the show ring, which is something many endurance riders have escaped from. But then....I'm not a good one to judge.

I've been informed that USEF will issue a press release @12:00 noon EDT. In the meantime, the following reference to a recent USEF sponsored article might provide some insights into the directions USEF wishes to take US International Endurance.

To ultimately improve the U.S. chances for a WEG medal, "We
need to commit to long-term training, coaching and young rider
development programs and staff," said Priesz. To do this, he said
funding must be at least doubled to $400,000 to $500,000. And
endurance must be marketed as a brand to the public and corporate
sponsors so that amateur riders can receive grants and
stipends to train together and attend more clinics.

"We need to grow our support from our leading [Arabian] breed
organization and discipline club," Priesz added.

This financial base would allow USEF to fully implement its 10-year
plan, which would help the U.S. regain its competitive course.
"Our goal is to develop a permanent training center for our national
team to train with an indoor arena and a veterinary lab," said
Priesz. "It would be a permanent endurance village like they have
overseas. Our current team and staff do a great job, but ultimately
we need a place where we can add a professional edge to our
commitment and preparation."
