I draw the line at starting a ride in a thunderstorm, especially with a kid. 
:-0  However, I once got caught mid-ride in a lightning storm, and we had to 
ride over a moderately high pass.  Lightning was striking the peaks not too 
far above.  I figured, "oh, well....here goes nothing" and took off at a 
fast trot over the pass.
