Re: [RC] Older - Diane Trefethen

Humans have always tinkered and invented, constantly trying to improve on the quality of life as they see it. Each of us goes through our childhoods without any frame of reference. Thus we each remember our younger years as having been at a simpler time, totally unaware that things were simpler still for those older than us. Even when we mature enough to realize this fact, since our own childhoods were so comfortable, sociologically speaking, we view earlier years as just, plain primitive, not as pleasantly simpler. Every new discovery, every problem solved opens more doors with more questions. Our curiosity drives us on to answer these new questions, solve these newer problems.

It is up to each us as individuals to say when we have worked enough, pushed hard enough. We each need to learn how to stop and smell the roses of quietude in our own lives. No one else can define them for us. What binds us together here on Ridecamp is that from the youngest to the oldest, we have all seen the serenity in a horse's eye and felt the healing peace of these beautiful, gentle creatures.
