I use Frontline-- not the plus-- and buy it in the big size, as you do, 
Meryanne, and never have had a problem with it. I also give by weights 
and the vet gave me a little "nipple" container and showed what levels 
to fill it to for the cats and then for my different sized dogs. 
Although humans aren't supposed to touch it, I always manage to get a 
little on me and after worming one time a friend and I had to go out to 
long grass pasture to fix a fence. She came back loaded with ticks and I 
didn't have one. Perhaps I am slowly poisoning myself with the traces I 
get every month-- yet I HATE ticks and it is probably worth it to me (I 
don't smoke or drink much-- guess you have to have some "vice" in your 
life and I'm too tired at night for my former one   ;-)   HORSES-- the 
most failsafe form of birth control!!!
