Horses must be a full 48 months old to compete in LD rides and a full 60 months to compete in endurance rides.
 
As for expensive to wait--it isn't anywhere NEAR as expensive to wait as it is to have to replace a young horse because he has broken down and have to raise up another one...

what is the Age??? I have a 2 year old MFT/Morgan Cross, who I will not train to saddle until she is 4, it amazes me how many people still start thier horses at 2, I was looking at MFT's yesterday, and most of them were babies, 3-4-5 and ready to go, trained for people 8-80, I was sick... those backs are still forming... I know it is hard to wait and expensive, but man it just does not make sense to me.. .
