RE: [RC] Remote areas and hay delivery/ round bales - heidi

Hey have any of you every gotten your horses round bales of hay to eat. When
we tried it they weren't very happy. They let us know they didn't appreciate
that they couldn't get a square meal.
That's one of my husbands favorite things to say when he sees those bales out
in a field.

We feed round bales to our groups all the time. They much prefer it to
meal feeding because it is there all the time.

Main problem with round bales is that in some areas, people only put up
the crappy hay in round bales. We're fortunate here in that our
growers put up some of their best hay that way.

Best part of it is that the underdogs in a group get their fair shot at
it--with meal feeding, we always had one or two that couldn't compete
very well and would get thin when we meal fed. Those same horses are
fat as little piggies when free-fed.
