==========================================

 From the research I've done, many people are thinking there is a gentic
aspect to both cushings and insulin resistance, plus my mare has many siblings
that have developed syptoms of these conditions, as well as founder. Insulin
resistance is often misdiagnosed as cushings; my vet initially wanted to test
my mare for cushings and put her on pergolide but I decided against either and
have been succesful in managing her through diet. Insulin resistance is still
often misdiagnosed as cushings, though as more research becomes available, this
probably won't be the case any more. Some vets keep up on research better than
others, so it's best to find out all you can, then make an educated decision
for yourself.
