In 1985, when Lud and I went to Switzerland, we also participated
in the European Championship endurance ride in Austria. We were set
up with leased horses from a man in Germany. This man and his father owned
and operated a slaughterhouse and butcher shop. The horses we leased were
two of the horses this man decided would make better endurance horses than horse
steaks. We both finished the 100-mile ride through the Austrian villages
and countryside...a marvelous experience.
