By all means.  They really should do more than just watch a trotout at the end anyhow.  And if you feel like you'd like them to take another look at your horse later, you can bring him back over for another look.

Is it possible to ask a vet, upon checking out after the ride, to do a more
comprehensive check on your horse, if you think he might be in trouble?
