[RC] diagonals - Shagyaarabs

Hopefully this will go through to ridecamp as this is a reply to Angie question on diagonals. I am a student of French Classical dressage and also of Dennis Farnham even though he doesn't have students.  Maybe call me a groupie. The crooked rider can cause the horse to prefer a specific diagonal.  My Shagya mare, Vega, always throws me on her left diagonal and this is also my strongest side.  So as I go down the trail I am continually switching to the right to even her and myself out.  This is helping her and also me (broke the right hip in 2001).  I have to step down into the right stirrup also to balance this mare.  The past two conditioning rides I was just posting and switching probably about every 10 or so strides.  Now we are working on the canter leads on both sides.  But remember, I am a newbie endurance rider so not sure if I could keep it up over 30 miles.
