[RC] Re:Come back Shane - Bruce Weary DC

Good advice, Dennis. A good review for most of us, and I like that term "Stall Courage." Many is the rider who has ridden the horse's bravado/adrenaline, not the actual conditioning level of the horse's tissues, with disastrous results. My experience is that many riders only give lip service to the fact that it takes two years or so to build all the hard tissues, making the horse durable both short- and long-term. Also, checking legs (and really knowing the anatomy you are feeling) after workouts is routine for me. Julie Suhr taught me the importance of "the look in their eyes." Is it dull and disinterested, or do they have that faraway "what's over the next hill" look? I'm sure there are scores of Ridecampers out there who can add their "short list" of things they pay attention to in conditioning their horses for this strenous sport. Who wants to go first?
