[RC] Shagya Bred horses To Compete in National Ride - Donna Coss

Notice, to those of you who own and ride a *SHAGYA BRED* competitive trail or
endurance horse.

The American Shagya Arabian Verband (*ASAV*) will be sponsoring an
endurance ride in conjunction with the *TOP OF THE ROCK* ride in
southern Indiana at Clark State Forest on June 3rd, 2006.
The winner of this AERC sponsored ride, will win the North American
Shagya Arabian Endurance championship, for the "eastern side of the
Mississippi River"! The 2006 ride will be 25 miles under AERC rules.

ASAV will furnish dinner for riders, owners, and friends of the Shagya
horse on Saturday following the ride.

Plans are being made for a 2007 Shagya championship ride for those who
compete in the western states

The entry information can be downloaded at www.aerc.org. Write on
the entry form that you have a horse of Shagya breeding that will be
eligible for entry for this Challenge Cup.

The horse must be registered with ASAV and nominated for the ASAV awards
programs. The rider does not have to be a member of ASAV.
Shagya geldings that are currently registered in another ISG sanctioned
registry can be registered in ASAV for the very nominal fee of $5.00. The fee for stallions and mares is only $10.00. The information for
this transfer can be found at *http://www.shagya-arabian-horses-asav.org/registration.php

The American Shagya Arabian Verband *was founded in 2002 and is a
nonprofit corporation to record the linage of the Shagya horse. The
promotion of this breed and the education of the general public about
the heritage and history of the Shagya is our primary goal. The Shagya
is a 200 year old rare breed that was almost decimated during W.W.II. The
breed numbers are increasing, but still only number 2000 world wide.

The breed has an excellent performance record for endurance and an
increasing number are finding their way into the endurance world. Two
of the stars of the breed, are Shagya bred, *Fayette de Cameo*, Tevis
winner, and *Georgat* who won the Dubai World championship race and the European championship ride, both in 2005.
