[RC] Ol' Time E'olytes - rides2far

Um, ride slower?

Slower than what? I wasn't planning to go for the win or anything.

Make a point to stay at vet checks until they DO
eat
and drink, instead of being like Kaboot?

Kaboot eats great. He drinks on the trail so he doesn't have to at the
check, goes straight for the hay every time. He did fight to go fast, but
he always ate. Heck, I've got witnesses that can tell you that at the
Liberty Run I break off bamboo stalks and hold it out front like a carrot
stick. He eats going down the trail that way.

I've got a good completion rate at Million PInes. I've been anywhere
from the back of the pack to racing in for the win. It was *amazing* how
great the footing was when I led, compared to one year I rode with my
friend Bekki in the 25, then elevated which put me pretty much behind 200
horses. One thing that I've found is that if you go *extremely* slow you
will have to deal with much deeper sand and there's a point at which it's
better to maintain a reasonable pace. That's the main reason I wouldn't
enter this horse in the 30 and elevate. I don't want to get behind all
those horses. I'm looking for 7mph or so. Whatever he feels comfortable
with. It's flat, sand's not too bad, and well marked with ample holds.

I'd still like to hear how Joe would electrolyte there since he's done a
lot of competing here.
