[RC] Truck Camper/Towing Questions-Debbie Kirchner - laurie russell

Debbie,

I pulled a Circle J 2H Slant Load w/front dressing/tack room with a 3/4 Ton Ford Ext. Cab 4x4 diesel carrying a 11 1/2 foot camper.

We extended the trailer tongue alittle over 3 feet.  The trailer pulled wonderfully, we did not use stabilizer bars.  We reasoned that if we extended the truck hitch, the comfort of the horses would be compromised-like putting a trailer hitch at the end of a school bus?

We hauled around Missouri and then to the mountains in Colorado.  We had enough power and NO trailer sway.  We did have some side blows from cross winds while going across windy Kansas.  Backing is not a problem.

You can get in alot of tight places with this unit that you can't get into with a gooseneck.  There are pros and cons to all rigs.

Happy Traveling!

Laurie
