Fw: [RC] acid build up---e-lytes - Dot Wiggins

And would whole oats also be useful since chewing helps to stimulate saliva----and they can provide ongoing calories??

some who are racing, and under stress, his opinion is that riders should relieve the
acid buildup immediately following a race and not during the race!

As for acid build-up, consider that one of the best buffers is saliva--and that eating long-stemmed forage at vet checks will stimulate saliva production AND add e-lytes in a food form where they are not caustic.
