Re: [RC] [RC] Selling stuff on classifieds - April

I have sold stuff on endurance.net (and various other sites). I generally ask for payment before shipping. That's fairly standard for internet sales all over. Pay for the item, then receive the item. I prefer PayPal for payment. Fast, easy, free, and there is a record for buyer and seller of payment.

One thing I have done is to put my item on eBay and then advertise it on endurance.net with a link to the eBay auction. This only is worth it for somewhat higher dollar items since you have to pay eBay fees and the $5 to endurance.net, but I've found this to be effective and the transaction is completed through eBay and PayPal.

I have also just done the straight transaction without using eBay, but I almost always use PayPal unless I already know and trust the buyer.

Good luck,

Just wanted to run this by everyone because I am new to selling things in the classifieds. I was wondering if there is a general rule or practice when it comes to "make the sale" and exchange money for the item. I realize there has to be a certain amount of trust and good faith on both sides, but is it unreasonable to ask that the money be sent and received before shipping out the item? And do you generally ask for a money order or certified cheque?
